What to Do Before You Get to Our NE Calgary Office

• Knocked-out tooth: hold it by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently, and put it back in the socket or keep it in milk. Call us right away: the sooner we see you, the better the chance of saving it.
• Broken or chipped tooth: rinse with warm water, save any pieces, and use a cold compress on your cheek for swelling.
• Severe toothache: rinse with warm salt water and gently floss to remove trapped food. Don’t put aspirin directly on the gum.
• Lost filling or crown: keep the crown and bring it with you. Avoid chewing on that side.

When to Go to the Hospital Instead

If you have swelling that is spreading to your eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a high fever, or a jaw injury from an accident, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 first. We can take care of the dental treatment once you’re stable.
